We have some activities to increase environmental awareness and sensitivity
These are;
Celebrations on 5th January “World Environment Day” , waste battery boxes and cloth bags given to personnel.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Wastes are separated by their species within the scope of waste management. Green container is used for paper wastes, red container is used for contaminated wastes and blue container is used for recylable wastes. Automobile battery is used for transportation of these wastes.
Hazardous wastes, which are collected in impermeable area, are transported via vehicles licensed by ministry of environment and urbanism and sent to accredited organizations approved by the ministry for recycling/disposal.
The medical wastes from THY Technic medicine are collected separately from other wastes by municipality.
Batteries are collected in waste battery boxes and then sent to authorized instituion.
Aircraft tires which are out of date, cartridges, toner etc. are collected by licensed institution or they are used for recycling.
According to agreement with GE, aircraft parts and components that are scrapped within THY Technic are sent to related firm for recycling.
Wastewaters from various workshops in THY Technic I. And II. Maintenance Hangars are discharged to receiving environment in accordance with the limit values through pretreatment, chemical and biological treatment. These treatment activities are performed by THY Technic treatment facility.
EMISSION MANAGEMENT
Emission and imission measurements are performed periodically by institutions approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism. Also, our company has a “B Group Emission Permit” in accordance with Industrial Air Control Regulations.
TRAINING
Environmental Issues have been included to Occupational Health and Safety Trainings given to all personnel, students and newcomers.
Also, MSDS trainings are given to personnel who work with chemicals to improve their environmental awareness.
USAGE OF RESOURCE AND ENERGY
In our facilities, heating and cooling systems are controlled according to temperature and time for energy saving. Motion and light dedectors are used for lightning. Heating, cooling and electrical systems are checked regularly.
Trigeneration system for production of electricity and heat from natural gas, heat pumps using underground heat for heating and cooling, production of heat and electricity from solar energy, storage systems for using rain water are being installed at HABOM project on Kurtköy Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Our goal is to minimize accidents and deaths by proactive measures and to run on time aircraft, motor, component, maintenance and repair operations by increasing occupational health, safety and environmental awareness of staff.
Proactive measures as a result of risk analysis are taken to prevent accidents and to provide safe working environment.
Symposiums are organized on weeks of 4-10 May in each year to increase awareness of occupational safety.
TRAININGS
Occupational health and safety trainings are given to all personnel regularly by occupational safety specialists within the framework of the annual plan. The purpose of these trainings is to inform all personnel regarding with occupational risks at this workplace.
NOISE MANAGEMENT
Noise measurements were made and noise map was prepared to examine the effects of noise of our activities to environment. The walls of workshops with high sound level are coated with sound absorbing panels. Also, personal exposure measurements were included to these measurements. Noise control was achieved by minimizing exposure to employees and prevention of spread of noise.
PERIODIC CHECKS
Periodic health checks including chest X-ray, urinalysis, complete blood tests are performed for all personnel including subcontractors annually. Additional tests are performed for some personnel exposed to different risks with decisions of occupational safety specialist and physician.Occupational safety specialist and physician are permanent members of occupational health safety committee. Also, health services perform symposiums to inform personnel about reflux, healthy eating, low back disorders etc.
